Wow, I still can’t believe I pulled all this together with the help of these vendors. You never know how a styled shoot is going to turn out until everything is finally put together. I was so excited to see how everything matched the pink and purple floral theme! From the invitation suite, to the bouquet, to the vibrant table linen, and the beautiful bouquet, I’d say it was a success! Plus my models are so obviously madly in love, so they defintiely made my job easy… The golden sunshine falling between the trees and sparkling over the water made for the dreamiest lighting, too! This is definitely an inspiration wedding for brides who are lovers of all things pink, vibrant, and flowery. Get ready because your “heart eyes” are about to go crazy- just wait until you keep scrolling! 🙂
As most of you know, on June 18th I hosted my first ever photography workshop! I had been planning the concept of this day since last summer and vendors booked by the Fall. I worked for months and months on the planning process, finding more vendors and sponsors, creating the perfect presentation, nailing down a timeline, prepping goodie bags, and so much more. This process was a challenge for me, but it was worth every second of my time!
The workshop day started at 8am with unicorn straws and delicious cold-brew, a massive Sugar Shack donut cake, and getting to know everyone better! All the attendees had been in touch through the Facebook group that I created, so it was awesome to see them all connect face to face! I feel like everyone instantly got along so well and it was such a positive vibe all around! Each person there offered something beautiful and unique to the group and I loved getting to know them all! I am so thankful that each one of those photographers believed in me, investing in my education, and decided to take the next level in their businesses by joining my first workshop experience!
Danise of Busy Bee Productivity Coaching was invited to speak in the morning to really start allowing everyone to open up and dig deep. She talked about goal setting, building a tribe, the WHY behind our businesses, and limiting thoughts/beliefs that hold us back. I couldn’t have asked for a better speaker, motivator, and encouraging role model for all the attendees. She is a total boss and is changing the lives of women who are ready to live out their purpose!
The day went on with educational lessons, one-on-one time, good food, headshots, lots of laughs, and a beautiful portfolio-building styled shoot! After we sweated our butts off in 100-degree weather and had a blast working with the models, we reconvened indoors to cool down. We enjoyed some pizza and finished our last lesson at 9pm… longest and best day ever! It was so sad to say goodbye to everyone after bonding all day, but we decided to stay connected and continue supporting each other with an Instagram and Facebook group. We have been talking in our group chats every day since the workshop! These girls understand and live out the meaning of community, encouragement, and friendship.
I love that I had the opportunity to bring this group together and that they will forever be supportive of each other. I want to share some fun behind the scenes shots from me and other attendees throughout the day! Next week I’ll be sharing photos on the blog from the styled shoots and I can’t wait for you to see what all the vendors created!

The day after the workshop I had a legitimate hangover. I was exhausted but my heart was so full. I was asked afterward if I thought it was worth it… OF COURSE IT WAS!!! And I would do it all over again. For those of you who have asked and who are wondering, yes- I plan to host another workshop down the road! If you’ve been following me, you have probably noticed my website and branding launch a couple weeks ago. You might have also noticed my favorite color and the color of my brand… PINK. But my all-time favorite color combination is pink and purple. Naturally, this became the theme of my new website and brand! 🙂

I have always been a girly girl. I love pretty, sparkly, colorful, happy things! There were times where I felt like I was being judged because I was so girly and had all things pink. That made me feel like I needed to tone things down a level and maybe not wear so much glitter… but then I realized something. Not everyone is as girly as me, and not everyone likes these things, and that’s a GREAT thing. I learned to embrace my likes and what makes me, ME. These things set me apart from other photographers. People literally go out of their way to wish me a “pink day” or message me their appreciation for all the pink. That totally doesn’t happen to everyone. How awesome is that?
So, what I mean by saying “if you got it, brand it”, is this: when you’ve figured out what makes you unique, what makes you happy and what makes you, you… BRAND IT. Take what you love and make it known. It can be a color, an object, a song, a sport, I could go on and on, but you get the point! 🙂 I used my girly, favorite color and my love for pretty flowers (especially peonies) and turned that into my website and brand. By doing this I attracted the clients that I want to connect with! Think about what you love, what you want to photograph, and how you can show your target audience who you are! This will allow you to put out what you want to bring in- make sense?
If you think that hiding your quirks and uniqueness is beneficial, think again!!! Embrace these qualities and use them for good. Embrace your weirdness. Embrace your uniqueness. Embrace YOURSELF. Show people the real you, and you will be amazed at how many others connect with you!
If you aren’t sure what your brand should look like or how you can connect with your clients, be patient, you WILL figure it out. Trust me, it takes thought and a lot of quality time with yourself… a lot… but it will hit you when the time is right. One tip to branding your business… don’t be anyone but yourself. Use your differences to your advantage. Don’t get discouraged by comparing yourself to other businesses. Just trust that your brand will develop in good timing. I’m rooting for you!!

Okay… It’s basically everyone’s birthday month. That includes my sister-in-law, Christielee, my dear friend, Brandon, and a lot of other friends, too!
It’s also mine and Eli’s dating anniversary, so we like to celebrate with a concert or a date night! This year we are doing something super fun that we can’t speak of until the day-of AND we are going to a John Mayer concert! (YAS)
Obviously, it’s the best month ever. It’s filled with celebration and love! What better month to celebrate the new and improved Remy Thompson Photography, right!?

Here is a fun sneak peek into my new brand created by the amazing Bright & Social Co. and I am SO in love!!! The sisters who own the company, Mandy and Megan, specialize in social media management, website design, and branding. They seriously made my vision come to life so much better than I expected. I can’t thank them enough for working so hard and long (since April!) on this project. I can’t wait for you all to see more, but for now here is a pretty little snap shot into my website!!
I’m so excited to start this new journey so that I can really begin growing this passion and business of mine! Normally I would think to myself, “nobody actually cares what I have to say..nobody is going to read it..most people will just laugh at me..nobody takes me seriously..” But now, I’m saying “GOODBYE negative thoughts, GOODBYE fear, and HELLO to an encouraged, inspired, first-time blogger, Remy!”
Name Rant: Yes, my name is Remy and no, I’m not a dog. I swear, I have met ONE human (a boy) and 10 dogs named Remy. This can get pretty weird when the dog isn’t behaving and the owner is yelling at it… No, Remy isn’t short for Remmington. Yes, I despise the movie “Ratatouille” because the rat’s name is Remy and now every time someone hears my name they think of a rat…that’s awesome. Also, the famous lines I have always gotten when I introduce myself: “ohhh, like Remy Ma?”…”ohhh, like Remy Martin?” Yep, you got it! 🙂 But anyway, I just wanted to get the name questions out of the way. Now for the real introduction!

I am a Portrait Photographer currently located in North Carolina, yet always willing, and even hoping, to travel! I grew up just south of Richmond, VA, graduated from East Carolina University in 2014, and found love on Hatteras Island, NC (that’s a whole other blog post). My best friend and fiancé is a super cool, part hippie, dread-head, surfer, musician, fire-spinner, who can-basically-do-everything, and he’s kind of my total opposite (and I love him for that).
I’m an obsessed Aunt to the cutest nephew on the planet! I’m inspired by my crazy, New York, Italian family, who I love to death and miss 24/7, even though they live 3 hours away (that’s sad). I most definitely have an obsession with pink. I mean.. you know you have an obsession when you are separating your laundry and realize you have an entire pile for just the pink clothes and then still believe you don’t have enough pink in your life.. I LOVE pink. It’s just so pretty and girly and fun!!! 🙂 Other things I really love: white chocolate mochas, vanilla chai, flowers, candles, LOTS of pizza (I mean like, a LOT of pizza), sunsets, and adventure. Oh, and I can’t forget my sweet pup, Behr. He sleeps all day, every day and I love his cute cuddles more than anything!

I’d also like to share that I cry at just about every movie because, well, I’m emotional. The Biase’s are an emotional bunch. I wouldn’t have it any other way. My parents are amazing and taught me how to use my emotions in the best ways. This is where it gets juicy… Being emotional is what makes me care a weird amount for just about every person that comes into my life. I care a lot, I pour my heart into everything I do, and I love to love. Love is what we LIVE for. Some may not think so, but I do. Love is to give, to sacrifice, to serve. Love is real and raw. Love is what we share with friends, family, co-workers, strangers, and yourself. Love is what this world thrives off of! Love is everything. And that’s why I was called to study hospitality management in college. Hospitality is practicing friendliness, kindness, welcoming, and serving. No, I’m not always the perfect example of hospitality, I constantly face lessons that humble me; but my heart is in this industry and I want to use it to spread love and light to the world. Ultimately, I feel that light shining through the most when I am celebrating with my clients during a session.
I believe in celebrating each milestone in this wild life. I find passion in sharing your love story, popping the champagne because you’re graduating, showing off your first baby bump, and remembering each minute of every special moment.
I think you probably know me a little too well by now, and that’s fine with me! I can’t wait to begin this blogging journey with a fresh post each week…I already have so many ideas that my head could explode! Expect a little bit of every topic of my life and an inside look into all my portrait sessions coming up. I’m so happy you’re joining me on this exciting adventure!
