John Marshall Ballrooms Wedding | Katie + PJ

Katie and PJ are married…. AGAIN! A year after their intimate ceremony at Barns of Kanak, Katie and PJ finally got their big celebration at John Marshall Ballrooms.

The all-indoor ceremony and reception in the heart of downtown Richmond was nothing short of elegant! Sparkling vintage chandeliers and grand windows in the Marshall Ballroom made the ceremony light and bright. We moved into the ballroom for the reception, where large LOVE marquee letters and string lights added extra glow and fun for dinner, drinks and dancing!

King Family Vineyards Wedding | Sara + Vignesh

Sara and Vignesh’s big day was one of the most unforgettable weddings of my career! They honored both of their cultures with double the ceremonies and double the fun!

Sara and Vignesh first met at work. They kept it platonic and professional, but when Vignesh broke the news that he was transferring to New York City, Sara was heartbroken. She visited him shortly after his move and had the best weekend of her life. They ate, drank, and packed everything they could into that long weekend. The rest was history – they’d see each other every two weeks, exploring all the cities Vignesh would move to during his two-year work rotation. They eventually settled down together in Richmond, and he proposed on their getaway trip to Asheville, NC!

We celebrated Sara and Vignesh at King Family Vineyards with back-to-back Hindu and Western ceremonies! One of the coolest parts of my job is getting to witness wedding traditions from other cultures. I was so grateful to be part of such a beautiful experience, especially for two incredibly kind, wonderful people like Sara and Vignesh!

Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Narayanaswamy! May your future be as full of love and blessings as your wedding day was!

Wrightsville Manor Wedding | Kris + Taylor

Kris + Taylor’s story has sounded like a fairytale from the very beginning! Taylor’s mom met Kris – the boy who lived downstairs at her new apartment complex- while Taylor was out of town. She talked him up to Taylor and encouraged her to introduce herself, to which Taylor replied “if it’s meant to be, it will be.” And it WAS.

After lots of small talk along their identical running routes, Taylor invited Kris to join her and her parents at an NC State football game. He said yes, and eventually, she would too – when he proposed in front of a castle in Switzerland!

The stars aligned yet again for their wedding day. All week, the forecast had called for 100% chance of rain the entire day. I woke up the morning of the wedding begging God and Mother Nature to give us a break, and my prayers were answered!! We embraced the rain and winds when we needed to, but the timing was always perfect. We got plenty of gorgeous, rain-free portraits outside, and had plenty of fun inside. The reception was insane.. from the decor and florals executed by the most amazing planner and florist, plus the entertainment from the wedding party and the band, to rainy nighttime portraits and still going for the sparkler exit in the rain… all I can say is, it was an unforgettable night!

Congratulations sweet friends! Thank you for allowing me

Williamsburg Wedding | Emily + Brian

Emily and Brian (aka Brantley) grew up in the same hometown without ever knowing one another; their moms even worked together! It wasn’t until Emily went to meet Brian’s friend that she was introduced to him. Brian later invited her to a party where they really connected, he called out of work the next day so they could spend it together, and from that point on they were inseparable!

Two years into dating, Emily’s mom requested a family trip to Anna Maria Island, Florida. She had vacationed there as a kid and wanted to go back one more time. Brian knew he wanted to propose on the vacation, so he asked Emily’s dad for his blessing three months in advance and then got down on one knee at the perfect moment while on their trip. How cute!! I love the sentiment behind the location and the romantic setting.

Emily and Brian’s Williamsburg wedding was full of surprises. From storms that rolled in right after their ceremony (amazing timing), to being forced to chug Smirnoff ices during speeches, they took it all like champs and laughed the whole way through!! When the rain lightened up just before dark, we escaped for portraits down by the water. We were blessed with the most epic sunset, and I’d like to think Emily’s mama in heaven had something to do with it 🙂

Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Brantley! It was such a joy to be a part of your day!

Celebrations at the Reservoir Wedding | Katie + James

This was such a special day for me as I got to witness some old friends from high school commit to forever together!! Katie and James have known each other since freshman year. In 2019 after nine years together, James finally popped the question by planning an oceanfront surprise with all their closest friends and pizza- is there anything better?

Their wedding took place at Celebrations, nestled underneath vibrant fall leaves with the sparkling water of the reservoir behind them. Their very large bridal party created such a fun party atmosphere from beginning to end. The night was filled with energy, poolside dancing, romantic moments, and the best exit! I am so thrilled for these two and honored they chose me to capture this day.

Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Taylor! Love you guys!!

The Army and Navy Club Wedding | Caroline + Cranston

Where to begin with this absolute dream couple?! For starters, I’d like to thank Caroline and Cranston for their service. They first met in Kuwait while deployed to the Global Coalition. They became best friends despite Cranston’s deployment to Iraq and Caroline’s to Afghanistan. They talked every day and night, and when Caroline returned to the states, Cranston was the one to pick her up from the airport. He took her home to her parents and they’ve been together ever since! It’s like a Hallmark movie but with better characters and an actual inspiring story. AMAZING.

Their Georgetown, DC wedding day was full of all the best things – powerful love and joy, spontaneous singing, champagne, and pops of pink! Can you believe it was actually their idea to take pictures at the beautiful, colorful, floral spot just steps away from their ceremony?! It’s called “Call Your Mother Deli” and WOW my pink-loving heart was beyond happy!

Thank you again to my dream couple and angel friends, Caroline and Cranston, for choosing me to capture your wedding day! Your love radiates and I’m so grateful I could witness the day you promised forever together.  Cheers to you!

Celebrations at the Reservoir Wedding | Betsy + Tom

Although Betsy and Tom claim to have been super shy when they first started dating, their story is full of adventure! They’d go paddle boarding, horseback riding, and have bonfires on the beach. Eventually a hike through the Shenandoah Valley lead to their engagement. Like something out of a movie, Betsy turned around from looking out over the mountains to Tom down on one knee.

Betsy and Tom celebrated their “summer romance that hasn’t ended” with a September wedding at the Celebrations Manor House. They had the most gorgeous weather for their Sunday ceremony! Betsy’s boho, wildflower florals in fall colors were the perfect fit for the seasonal transition. The night ended with a grand exit first for me – they opted for vibrant ribbon poppers that provided streams of color and happiness! How fun is that!?

Betsy and Tom were a joy to work with! Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. McCoy!

The Estate at Independence Wedding | Corinne + Logan

Corinne and Logan met in the summer of 2005. When the school year started, Logan asked Corinne to the homecoming dance on September 24th. They dated on and off throughout high school before deciding to go their separate ways. But they stayed in touch over the years, never losing the love and support they had for each other.

Fast forward to 2015: Corinne graduated from Virginia Tech and moved back home to Richmond. She invited Logan to come see her first “big girl” apartment in the city. He agreed, and visited her 10 years to the date they went to homecoming – September 24th, 2015. The chemistry was as strong as when they first fell in love and the rest was history 🙂

These two finally married and it was the most perfect day!! That dusty rose and pops of color they chose really popped against the pristine green golf course at Independence Golf Club and I LOVE the final images. They had a beautiful sunny day for their ceremony, followed by a fun-filled evening of donuts and dancing.

Congratulations, Corinne & Logan! Cheers to your future!

Great Marsh Estate Wedding | Allie + Phaon

It’s obvious Allie and Phaon were destined to be together! They both attended Elon University. They both were college athletes – Allie was on the cheer squad and Phaon was on the rugby team. Then, they both ended up living in DC after graduation. That’s when they started dating, and their love story really began.

This wedding was a DREAM for me. From poppin’ bubbly in the gorgeous getting ready suite at Great Marsh, to the genuinely joyous bride jumping on the bed, topped off with BRIGHT pink florals – it was overwhelming trying to pick which photos to share. Their bride and groom portraits have to be some of my absolute favorites… a stunning venue with an even more stunning couple… I MEAN REALLY!

Allie and Phaon were truly the kindest, dreamiest couple and I loved every moment of this day! Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Derr!

The Barns Of Kanak Wedding | Katie + PJ

Katie and PJ decided to go through with an intimate ceremony at Barns of Kanak of April 2021 and to reschedule their big celebration for April 2022. This was so special being a part of a short and sweet ceremony surrounded by their closest family members. This venue was the perfect location for this, making everything easy and giving us a beautiful backdrop to work with. I can’t wait to share the second Leegan wedding, but for now enjoy these pretty pictures!
